5th Ave Lady Hailing a Cab
Tutorial

Using the pattern provided cut the dickey with the Alova suede fabric.

Spread glue across her chest and on lower edge of bust. Center the bodice and smooth toward sides, pressing tightly with fingers until it holds in place. Since this is a man made fabric, it takes a bit longer.

Don't worry about the back since it will not be seen and you will avoid bulk once the coat is put on.
I now insert the arms. I painted the arms brown so that it looks like brown leather gloves.

Create a tube around the arms to form the sleeves. Don't fret over it too much because the coat will cover them. I added a strip of leather with a buckle to create the belt.

Using the pattern provided cut the coat. I used Alova Suede fabric.

You can sew the coat or glue it. I prefer glueing but it's up to you. I then turned the coat over and trimmed with brown chenille.

If you want to add a necklace now is the time to do it before you put on the coat. You can't see it in this picture but at the last minute I added a gold chain necklace and pearl earrings.

Once you trim the coat with Chenille you can put it on your doll.

Hair

Her simple hairstyle is done with the techniques I learned from Dana. Here is one of Dana's tutorials on wigging: http://msatminidolls.minilists.com/wigging1.htm.

With this hairstyle you need very little hair. After creating the hairline with glue I lay one piece from front to back of neck then I lay the other piece from ear to ear. I then pulled the hair back and styled.

Position your doll whichever way you want. I wanted to position my doll as if she were hailing a cab in NYC. The Purse was a swap I received a long time ago. But you can easily create a purse with leather or suede fabric.

Your doll is now complete! Any questions feel free to email me.
